Autumn Term 2024

This term, we shall learn all about the Romans and the expansion of the Roman Empire. Researching significant events such as Boudicca’s Rebellion and how they built a network of roads around the UK.

Following the Literacy Tree scheme in English, we shall be starting the term by reading Tar Beach by Faith Ringgold learning all about freedom and writing some lovely poetry inspired by the book. Finishing the term with Iron Man by Ted Hughes and writing a very exciting mystery narrative.
In Maths, we will be securing place value knowledge before moving onto using all four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) to answer more complex questions and problem-solving. There will also be a focus on learning all the 12 x 12 times tables throughout the year to help in all aspects of maths learning. We shall be investigating states of matter in science, to understand what variables can cause some materials to change states. This will be done through experimentation and evaluating our findings to see how we can prove our findings.

We shall be practising skills in sports such as basketball as well as fitness activities to keep healthy and talking about friendships and how to be ready, respectful and safe.
